Description

What is Wegovy?

Wegovy is a weight loss treatment that works to suppress appetite. It helps you feel fuller, prevents unnecessary cravings, and limits food intake to promote weight loss.

Active Ingredient of Wegovy

  • Wegovy contains Semaglutide as its active component, which is used to help adults manage their weight.
  • Research also suggest that people lose more weight with Semaglutide when they have weight management support in supervision compared to weight management support alone. This is something we are working on so stay tuned for an update!
  • It also helps prevent other serious long-term conditions like cardiovascular disease.
  • Semaglutide helps prediabetic individuals balance their blood sugar levels more effectively. In comparison with the lifestyle changes that can be done alone.

How it works

Wegovy contains Semaglutide as its active component. This active compound helps minimize a natural hormone in the body called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). GLP-1 is responsible for regulating appetite and food intake. Semaglutide is responsible for activating GLP-1 receptors, which signal the brain to control hunger and support weight loss.

Semaglutide works through several key actions:

  • Appetite Regulation: Semaglutide acts on brain areas that control hunger. This, in turn, leads to reduced appetite and calorie intake.
  • Slowing Gastric Emptying: Semaglutide slows down the process of food leaving the stomach and how quickly it enters the intestine. It also helps promote a feeling of fullness for a longer period after eating food.
  • Blood Sugar Control: It also enhances insulin secretion and suppresses glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner, which helps regulate blood sugar.

These combined effects may contribute to weight loss, weight maintenance, and improved metabolic health.
